Issuing an AMKA (Social Security Number)

The application must be submitted in person at EFKA branches or at Citizens’ Service Centers (KEP). You can also call 1555 to schedule an appointment free of charge.

Documents commonly required for AMKA issuance:

1. Valid passport
2. Proof of legal entry into Greece (visa) and/or residence permit allowing stay and access to the labor market
3. Tax Identification Number (AFM) – AMKA cannot be issued without an AFM
4. Proof of residential address (e.g., rental agreement or statement/declaration of accommodation)
5. Proof of employment (employment certificate from employer or employment contract registered in ERGANI), or tax registration certificate, or proof of studies in Greece
6. Family status certificate, birth certificate, or other public document showing the necessary personal details
